Professional Biography

Stephanie brings more than a decade of diverse legal experience to her role as a career consultant at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Her varied career across public defense, government practice, nonprofit and entrepreneurial advising, and private practice uniquely positions her to guide law students as they explore career paths and professional development opportunities within and beyond traditional legal practice.

Stephanie began her legal career at the Law Offices of the State Public Defender in Wisconsin, where she zealously represented indigent individuals in criminal, administrative, and protective proceedings, including mental health, guardianship, juvenile, and child support matters. She later served as an assistant corporation counsel, handling zoning issues, child abuse and neglect cases, and other protective proceedings involving elderly and mentally ill individuals.

Prior to relocating to Colorado, Stephanie also had the opportunity to work closely with entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations, providing legal guidance on corporate governance, employment, intellectual property, entity formation, trademark, regulatory compliance, real estate and zoning, and contract matters. In addition, she served as co-chair of the Internship Hiring Committee at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, where she collaborated with organizational leadership to recruit, mentor, and support emerging legal talent—experience that now directly informs her work with law students.

Most recently, Stephanie focused her practice on Elder Law, Probate, and Estate Planning, helping families navigate complex legal issues with clarity and compassion. She is licensed to practice law in Missouri and holds inactive status in Wisconsin. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Fisk University and a Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and exploring her passion for genealogy.
