Meralee Hoffelt

Meralee Hoffelt is the Assistant Director of Bar Success and Visiting Professor of the Practice at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. In this role, she designs, implements, and manages rigorous academic programming to elevate and empower students and graduates navigating attorney licensure. She teaches Legal Analysis Strategies, a specialized skills course focused on bar exam preparedness, facilitates bar readiness workshops, conducts intensive advising sessions, and tracks performance data to optimize bar exam outcomes. Her hands-on mentorship ensures students and recent graduates receive targeted learning support, empowering them to master legal analysis and approach the bar examination with confidence.

Meralee brings over 25 years of teaching, professional coaching, and educational leadership experience to DU Law. As President of Exemplar, Inc., an educational consulting firm serving schools nationwide, she collaborated with educational leaders, curriculum developers, publishing companies, and teachers to implement effective instructional practices and organizational structures that boosted learning outcomes in underachieving and low-income schools. Throughout her time with Exemplar, Inc., Meralee provided extensive training at national conferences on teacher mentoring, supportive supervision, data-based classroom decision-making, and advanced learner feedback.

Her legal background includes serving as an Appellate Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Timothy Schutz of the Colorado Court of Appeals and as an Assistant Attorney General for the Colorado Department of Law within the Civil Litigation and Employment Law Section (Employment Practices and Civil Rights Unit).

Meralee holds a Master of Education in Adult Learning, Training, and Development from Regis University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
