Professional Biography
Melissa Mellen is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she teaches Business Planning and Mergers & Acquisitions. She brings nearly twenty years of experience advising businesses on corporate, transactional, employment and governance matters.
Melissa began her legal career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and subsequently joined KO Law Firm, where she served as Of Counsel and Human Resources Manager. Throughout her practice, she advised clients ranging from startups to multinational businesses on entity formation, financings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial contracts and employment matters.
In addition to her legal practice, Melissa has extensive operational leadership experience, currently serving as Director of Operations for MelTech Consulting, LLC, where she oversees business operations, financial reporting, contract management and organizational strategy.
Melissa is passionate about helping students connect legal doctrine with practical business realities and draws on her experience as both a transactional attorney and business operator to bring real-world perspective into the classroom.
She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), and her B.S. in business administration from Pepperdine.
