Professional Biography

Louise Seiler is a French attorney by profession. She practiced law in France for eight years, mainly in the field of criminal law. Subsequently, she decided to specialize in European law and completed a PhD at the University of Nantes, France. Her PhD thesis, ‘The European Public Prosecutor’s Office: Towards a Federal Criminal Justice System’, received the ‘Collin de Sussy Award’ from a French think tank.
 
She has master’s degrees in EU public law, European business law and international human rights law. She has also trained in European environmental law. She earned an LLM degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the Sturm College of Law. Her primary areas of interest include environmental criminal law, climate finance and climate litigation. She co-teaches a course on EU-US comparative climate change and energy transition law and policy with Professor Don Smith.
