Professional Biography
Joel is an attorney in Goodwin's Business Law Department and a member of its Technology group. He provides effective and efficient legal counsel to emerging growth tech companies, strategic investors, and venture capital firms by specializing in corporate and transactional matters, including formations, financings, mergers and acquisitions, and day-to-day business legal issues.
Joel is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he teaches Venture Law: Forming, Financing, and Selling a Startup, and guides law students as a Supervising Attorney at the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic at the University of Colorado Law School. Previously, he served on the Executive Councils of the Colorado Bar Association Business Law Section and Denver Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Joel worked as an attorney at a boutique firm in Denver, CO advising growing, innovative companies on corporate and commercial legal matters, and as an associate within a national design and fabrication firm headquartered near Detroit, MI which developed exhibits displayed by technology and automotive companies. These experiences solidified his interest in working with clients developing new technology and business models.
He received his JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School, and his BA from the University of Michigan where he studied Political Science and Philosophy.
