Sturm College of Law Partners with Themis to Provide Complimentary Bar Review, MPRE, and Study Resources
Catalyzed by a significant financial commitment from the Denver-based Sturm Family Foundation, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law has entered into a multi-year agreement with Themis Bar Review to provide a comprehensive and complimentary suite of bar review, Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE), and law school study resources for all incoming JD students. This innovative partnership with Themis enhances our students’ ability to succeed in law school and on the bar exam, while addressing the significant costs typically associated with commercial bar review courses. This new partnership builds upon the successes of our existing bar preparation offerings, which supported our recent graduates in achieving an 86% pass rate for first-time Colorado Bar Exam takers in July 2023, and a stunning 89% pass rate for first-time Colorado Bar Exam takers in July 2024 – our strongest performance in over a decade.
Colorado Bar Exam Pass Rate for First-Time Takers
The Sturm College of Law entered into its partnership with Themis after a rigorous selection process in which the nation’s leading bar review companies were invited to participate. Among other considerations, we focused on the companies’ performance in preparing graduates for the bar examination, the quality of their teaching materials, and the strength of their support for students across their years of legal study.
Professor Chris Engle-Newman, a nationally recognized expert in the field of bar success, has been hired to serve as Assistant Director of Bar Success and Visiting Assistant Professor of the Practice of Law. In this capacity, Professor Engle-Newman will work to harmonize our new offerings with our innovative Bar Success and Academic Achievement Programs, led by Professors Scott Johns and Diane Kraft, respectively.
We are excited to offer these new resources to our JD students and are grateful for the visionary philanthropic support of the Sturm Family Foundation that has made this important initiative possible.
