As part of their orientation to Denver Law, all incoming first-year full-time students once again participated in annual Day of Service activities on August 14, 2024. Partnering with a range of organizations, students worked together to promote the public good and build community with each other.

2024 partner organizations included:

  • arc Thrift Stores and arc Ambassadors
  • Denver City Parks and Recreation
  • Denver Rescue Mission – Lawrence Street Community Center
  • Denver Rescue Mission- Ministry Outreach Center
  • Florence Crittenton Services
  • Food Bank of the Rockies
  • International Rescue Committee
  • Metro Caring
  • Metro Volunteer Lawyers
  • Office of Respondent Parents’ Counsel
  • Project C.U.R.E.
  • Transformative Justice Project
  • Volunteers of America: Yard Angels

In collaboration with these groups, students cleaned up yards, recruited pro bono attorneys, researched education processes, stocked food, and much more.

Associate Dean and Professor Alexi Freeman coordinated the event along with staff member Karen Mitchell. Freeman shared, “the Day of Service has been a tradition for over 10 years at Denver Law. We want students to recognize early how important it is to give back in both legal and non-legal ways. We hope this session reminds them of the university’s mission to be a great university dedicated to the public good and lawyers’ obligations to public service.”
