Adjudicating Environmental Disputes: A Conversation with Justice Preston

Justice Brian Preston has served as Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales, Australia, since 2005. Established in 1980, the Court was the world's first specialist environmental superior court. Justice Preston is the author of numerous book chapters and articles in the field of environmental law. He also holds several editorial positions with leading environmental law journals and has contributed to international environmental consultancies and capacity-building initiatives, including programs for judiciaries across Asia, Africa, and the European Union. Justice Preston serves on a number of international environmental law committees and advisory boards. His roles include serving on the Governing Council and as Vice President for Oceania of the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment, as well as Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific.
