installation of the following distinguished scholars into named faculty positions.

Thompson G. Marsh Law Alumni Professor
Professor Alan Chen
The Thompson G. Marsh Law Alumni Professorship was established by alumni of the Sturm College of Law to recognize an outstanding faculty member in the Sturm College of Law.
Professor Chen is a leading national expert in free speech doctrine and theory, the law of federal courts, and public interest law.

John A. Carver, Jr. Chair in Natural Resources Law
Professor KK DuVivier
The Carver Chair is intended to award “a nationally recognized scholar and leader in the natural resources field.”
Professor DuVivier is a national expert in energy law, renewable energy law, civil procedure, mining law, wills & trusts, and environmental law.

Chauncey G. Wilson Memorial Research Chair
Professor Sam Kamin
Created for full professors, the Wilson Chairs recognize extraordinary records of nationally and internationally renowned published legal scholarship, scholarly engagement, presentations, and internal advancement of scholarship at the law school.
As one of the nation’s leading experts on the regulation of marijuana, Professor Kamin’s research interests include criminal procedure, death penalty jurisprudence, federal courts, and constitutional remedies.

Joe T. Juhan Endowed Professor in Property Rights and Policy
Professor Jan Laitos
Created in December 2019 through a $1.225 million cash commitment from donors Neil and Susan Ray. The Juhan Professorship “recognize[s] an outstanding faculty member in the Sturm College of Law with expertise in the fields of private property and natural resources law.”
With international expertise in constitutional law, environmental and natural resources law, Professor Laitos has authored numerous books and treatises, published by Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, West Academic, Foundation Press, Aspen, Duke University Press, and Edward Elgar Publishing.

William M. Beaney Memorial Research Chair
Professor Nancy Leong
Created for full professors, the Beaney Chair recognizes an extraordinary record of nationally and internationally renowned published legal scholarship, scholarly engagement, presentations, and internal advancement of scholarship at the law school.
Professor Leong's expertise and research interests include constitutional rights and remedies, criminal procedure, antidiscrimination, law and culture, and judicial decision making.

Brooks Institute Faculty Research Scholar of Animal Law and Policy
Professor Justin Marceau
Donated jointly from the Brooks Institute for Animal Rights Law and Policy, Inc. and the Brooks McCormick Jr. Trust for Animal Rights Law and Policy, the research scholar position recognizes exemplary research and scholarship in animal rights.
As a national leader in animal rights law, Professor Marceau's expertise and research interests include Constitutional law, criminal law and procedure, environmental and natural resources law.

Maxine Kurtz Faculty Research Scholar
Professor Sarah Schindler
Designed to support initiatives aimed at maximizing the long-term strength and leadership of the Sturm College of Law within the educational, professional, and larger communities, our new Maxine Kurtz Faculty Research Scholars strive to enhance the long-term excellence and professional reputation of the Sturm Faculty.
Professor Schindler is nationally recognized for her scholarship, which focuses on property, land use, local government, and sustainable development.

Maxine Kurtz Faculty Research Scholars
Professor Michael Siebecker
Designed to support initiatives aimed at maximizing the long-term strength and leadership of the Sturm College of Law within the educational, professional, and larger communities, our new Maxine Kurtz Faculty Research Scholars strive to enhance the long-term excellence and professional reputation of the Sturm Faculty.
Professor Siebecker's expertise and research address the intersection of law and political theory, focusing primarily in the areas of corporate law, securities regulation, corporate social responsibility, and corporate speech.

Chauncey G. Wilson Memorial Research Chair
Professor Catherine Smith
Created for full professors, the Wilson Chairs recognize extraordinary records of nationally and internationally renowned published legal scholarship, scholarly engagement, presentations, and internal advancement of scholarship at the law school.
Professor Smith's expertise includes employment discrimination, family law, and sexuality, gender and the law and her research interests include civil rights law and critical race theory.

Catherine Boggs Endowed Faculty Research Scholar
Associate Dean & Professor Annecoos Wiersema
Created in 2020 through a $250,000 commitment by Catherine (“Cassie”) Boggs, the new position recognizes “an outstanding faculty member at the Sturm College of Law with expertise in one or more of the following legal fields: property; natural resources law; mining law; and/or sustainability.”
Dean Wiersema's research focuses on international environmental law, with particular emphasis on international wildlife law, species and biodiversity conservation, and forest conservation.
