The Immigration Law and Policy Clinic (ILPC) is back in full swing for the 2024-25 school year. Led by Visiting Assistant Professor Elizabeth Jordan, the ILPC has seven clinic students and, for the first time in several years, two advanced students. The clinic remains focused on detained removal defense for noncitizens in ICE custody in Aurora, Colorado, and its docket has a variety of merits, appeals, and federal litigation for clients from around the world. This year, the ILPC has taken particularly complex cases of vulnerable and marginalized people, and student attorneys have the opportunity to thoroughly investigate, develop strong attorney-client relationships, and consider and develop their role as advocates in a variety of settings.

Additional ILPC policy projects examine issues related to the “crimmigration” pipeline in Colorado and its impact on people in immigration detention. ILPC policy work is done in community and coalition. The clinic has plans to prepare for the changes to immigration that are expected with the incoming presidential administration, and looks forward to zealously representing and standing with immigrant communities in Colorado.
