Welcome to the Master of Science in Legal Administration program (MSLA)! If you have comments, questions, or suggestions, please contact the MSLA office at 303.871.6308. And again, WELCOME!
- Academic Requirements for Graduation
MSLA students must maintain at least a B (3.0) average for all courses taken at the College of Law. A grade of C shall not be considered a failing grade if an MSLA student maintains an overall B average.
- Grades
MSLA classes at the College of Law are mostly small seminar classes making traditional law school grading procedures difficult, such as exam anonymity and grade curves. Thus, there are no such requirements established in the MSLA program.
- Academic Progress Reports
The MSLA program will produce an Academic Progress Report (APR) after each semester which advises the student of their progress in the program: grades, cumulative GPA, and required courses still to be taken.
- Class Attendance
Class Attendance is required for all courses. Professors will outline any impact attendance and participation will have on the student’s grade. Poor attendance can be the basis for a failing grade. Students are encouraged to discuss with the professors when they must be away from class.
- Grade Grievances
A student may initiate a grievance procedure with regard to any grade received at the College of Law if the student believes the grade was unfairly awarded. Such student should first consult the professor. If the student finds no resolution, then s/he should file a petition with the Director of the MSLA Program.
The Career Service Center & Networking
The Career Service Center at the College of Law is always open to helping students plan and manage their career goals. Their services include self-assessment exercises, resume and cover letter critiquing, career planning, networking, and other helpful job hunting skills and techniques. Look for the newsletters from either telling more about their specific offerings.
Other networking opportunities are available through student memberships in local chapters of professional organizations such as the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) and the National Association for Court Managers (NACM). If you are interested in applying for membership in these organizations, please contact the MSLA program for a student application.

Financial Information & Billing Procedures
MSLA students will receive one bill, which will be mailed to their home address once registration has occurred. Tuition will be charged according to the Sturm College of Law semester credit hour rate for the year. You may choose an extended payment option and pay in installments or you may file a notice of Employer Reimbursement allowing payment after the semester. For billing questions, please contact the bursar’s office at 303-871-4944. For financial aid questions, please contact the financial aid office at 303-871-6557.
On each bill there will be a technology fee and a student government fee. Each of these fees is specific to the school and the courses you are taking. There may also be two health fees and two student insurance fees. You may waive these fees provided that you submit a form demonstrating that you hold your own health insurance. If you have your own insurance, you may elect to use the health services through University Physicians. You need only pay once per semester for insurance or health fees.
- College of Law Pre-Session
During your first week at the College of Law, you begin your experience with the yearlong course Legal/Judicial Process for the Legal Administrator. During pre-session, students will go to a law firm and a court and meet practicing legal administrators. In class, students will learn the macro view of judicial process.
