International Legal Studies

At the Sturm College of Law, you will have opportunities to choose from a wide variety of classes in international law and specialize even further with a dual degree Joseph Korbel School of International Studies. Our students participate in the International Law Society student group and work on the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy as a staff member or editor. You can hone your debate skills on global subjects at the annual Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition and the Sutton Colloquium. You can explore internships and take advantage of amazing travel opportunities thanks to the Sturm College of Law’s connections to the international corporations and law firms that are located in Denver.

Our campus is often a catalyst for lively regional and international debate. Each year, the International Law Society sponsors a rich schedule of outside speakers and an annual conference. Each year, a distinguished visitor delivers the Myres S. McDougal Distinguished Lecture in International Law. And each year, first prize in an international law writing competition earns one student a summer of study abroad, usually at The Hague Academy of International Law in The Netherlands, on the Leonard v.B. Sutton scholarship.
