University of Denver Environmental Courts and Tribunals Study

The DU ECT Project

While a few studies have been done of individual ECTs (notably in Australia and New Zealand), no one has done a Law & Society-type comparative study of the full range of models and features globally. This first-of-its-kind study will provide two valuable real-world outcomes:

  1. a rigorous analysis of the diverse characteristics, successes, and failures of ECTs globally and thereby
  2. a practical guide for countries considering developing or reforming ECTs including a framework of the critical elements, options, and “best practices” to tailor it to the particular needs and systems of individual countries.
