The Denver University Law Review is the College of Law’s oldest law review and premier law journal. It is the more traditional of DU’s law reviews in that it has issues including articles of several different topics, whereas other journals focus on a particular area of law.
Being part of the Law Review gives law students a unique scholarly experience. Law Review Staff Editors learn how to edit an article, find research sources, write effectively, and work with others to produce a high-quality finished product. Each Staff Editor also has the opportunity to have his or her work published. While working on Denver University Law Review, a student will meet many new people through collaborative work efforts and numerous social activities. The Denver University Law Review is the ideal location to begin a close-knit network of future lawyers in the Colorado market.
Being a Staff Editor on the Denver University Law Review also academically distinguishes students. Law Review membership tells the legal community and prospective employers that the student is able to write, research, edit, and effectively manage his or her time. Further, membership on Denver University Law Review indicates the student was able to compete and excel in an academic, pressure-filled environment against their fellow students. Working on Law Review is a sign of scholarly excellence and can differentiate a student from the hundreds of other law students in the legal marketplace.
All students participating on the Denver University Law Review are eligible for up to six class credits.

- Who is Eligible?
Membership to the Denver University Law Review is limited to law students selected by the Law Review through a process that places heavy emphasis on scholarship through highly developed bluebook and editing skills, as well as demonstrated ability for strong writing and legal analysis. Law students interested in joining must participate in a write-on competition at the end of their first year.
Transfer students may apply provided they have, at a minimum, completed a comparable first-year program at an ABA-accredited law school. The Law Review strongly encourages all eligible law students to consider becoming a part of the Law Review. Students may ONLY attempt the candidacy process once. Downloading the packet constitutes an attempt.
- Time Commitment:
All Candidates who accept membership to the Denver University Law Review must serve a two-year commitment.
- Candidacy Requirements:
Candidacy will be held from May 18th to June 3. Packets will be available to download from TWEN on May 18th at 12:00 p.m. and due via TWEN on June 3rd at 12:00 p.m.
- Selection Process:
The Board will assign one grade to the bluebook/edit and one to the case comment. The grades will be added together resulting in one score for each candidate. The Board will weight the bluebook/edit 35% and the case comment 65%. Those candidates with the highest score will be invited to join. Law Review expects to notify students selected for the Law Review by the end of July, in advance of the mandatory all-day training session held the first week of classes.
