Immunizations

Colorado State Law and University of Denver policy require two (2) doses of vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Both doses must have been received after 12 months of age and at least one month or more apart. Students born after December 31, 1956, who are enrolled in traditional University programs, both undergraduate and graduate, including law, must comply with this requirement.

A hold preventing fall registration will be applied to students’ accounts on August 1, 2010 if we have not received your proof of immunization.

If proof of immunity is not provided to the HCC, you will not be allowed to register for classes. In the event of an outbreak of one of these viruses on campus, you will be withdrawn from classes by the Health Department until the outbreak is contained (this can take 6 to 8 weeks!). You will not be eligible for a tuition credit under these circumstances.

Proof of adequate immunization can be submitted in several ways:

  • The form provided by DU, completed with immunizations dated (month, day, year), and signed by your physician or the physician’s representative.
  • A photocopy of your previous school immunization record, signed by a school nurse.
  • A physician’s immunization record, with signature.
  • Proof of immunity through blood testing. A copy of the lab results must be included.

Please note that, according to Colorado regulations, a history of having had measles, mumps, or rubella disease is not acceptable proof of immunity, even if documented by a physician.

The MMR vaccination is available at the Health & Counseling Center for a $65 fee. The Health & Counseling Center administers the vaccinations between 9.00am – 11.00am and 1.00pm and 3.00pm, Monday – Friday.

Mail your documentation to:

Denver and Colorado

Denver is located on high, rolling plains, approximately 15 miles from the “Foothills” (a gentle series of peaks ranging from 7,000 to 11,000 feet high). Just beyond the Foothills is the Continental Divide and a series of peaks as high as 14,000 feet, known locally as the “Front Range.” Contrary to popular belief, Denver has a mild, dry and arid climate. Denver boasts over 200 parks, 450 miles of paved, designated bike trails, over 70 golf courses, and more than 143 free tennis courts. A short drive from Denver are opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, sailing, or mountain biking.
